Meet Blue Memphis!
This sweet face is a 5 year old Terrier Mix that was brought to Dorchester Paws in January as a stray.
Immediately, we noticed a traumatic injury to his back left hip and leg. We suspected that we were dealing with a dislocated hip or a pelvic or femur fracture. He was transported to Central Veterinary Hospital for radiographs and we found out that we were right- Blue Memphis had a dislocated hip. Summerville Pet Clinic performed a femoral head ostectomy (an FHO) to get Blue Memphis full function of his leg. While the surgery was successful, it can take almost two months before weight-bearing on the leg is seen, because he needs extreme muscle recovery.
At the least, Blue needs a medical foster to give him time to heal and learn to walk properly during his recovery. However, Blue Memphis is now officially available for adoption and is in search of his furever home.
If interested in adopting or fostering Blue Memphis, stop by Dorchester Paws at 136 Four Paws Lane Summerville, SC between 12-5pm any day of the week.
We’re also in great need of donations to help pay for his medical bills. Because of our medical fund, Michael’s Healing Heart, we were able to give Blue Memphis the medical attention that he needed, but the average FHO costs approximately $1500.
For us to stay ready for the next animal who needs our help, we need donations to Michael’s Healing Heart Fund as it’s what allows us to help every animal who comes through our gates journey from victim to victory.
