Dorchester Paws Awarded Nonprofit of the Year!

Dorchester Paws Named 2020 Nonprofit of the Year by Summerville Chamber

The Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce’s award program is designed to recognize the dedication, achievement and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by exceptional local businesses, nonprofits and individuals.  Recipients of the 2020 Chamber Awards were announced virtually via Zoom and Facebook Live on Friday, January 29, 2021.

Maddie Moore, Executive Director and Co-Leader of Dorchester Paws, had the following to say:

“Dorchester Paws was honored to be awarded the Nonprofit of the Year and accepted the award on behalf of the Dorchester County Community. After all this is your shelter. We would not be here without our volunteers, donors, board of directors and staff.
Dorchester Paws is constantly looking for ways to expand our programs and services that benefit our community and we do this all while operating out of the same building that was built back in 1972.
The why? It’s simple; Four paws and two eyes staring back at you. Imagine seeing a dog or a cat fighting for it’s life on the side of the road, now imagine not having any place you could take them that would cover all of the financial burdens associated with their rehabilitation. That is the reality of what we are here to do, and the service we offer to our community. We are so thankful for the recognition that the chamber has allowed us to have for the act of service and labor of love our shelter provides for each and every animal that enters our care. “
Thank you for your support and we look forward to celebrating with you all year long!
