oyster roast

The wait is over and tickets are live! Join us for the 26th Annual Downs Byrd Memorial Oyster Roast, held in honor of the late Dorothy Kronemer, a longtime supporter, advocate, and beloved auctioneer who helped make this event what it is today. The event will take place on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, from 6 PM to 10 PM at the Summerville Country Club.

Your ticket includes unlimited oysters, delicious food and desserts, beer and wine, access to our exclusive auction, and free entry into our raffle. Every dollar raised goes directly to helping the animals of Dorchester Paws.

mutts for miles

Are you ready to get active?

Join Mutts for Miles!

Mutts for Miles is a program that can help you & one of our dogs get moving every week! Mutts for Miles combines members of the community that are active or want to get active & shelter dogs for an hour long walk or run.

This program was designed to give a much needed shelter break to the dogs who need to expel their energy the most and give them some normalcy to their day. It also helps bring awareness to these animals who are looking for their forever homes.

How does Mutts for Miles work?

Doggie Date

Whenever you take a dog on a date, you’re giving a shelter dog the opportunity to shine. They get an afternoon of fun, exploring, and tail wags outside of the shelter.

You can take them to lunch, to run errands, to the beach and so many other dog-friendly places that will help give them exposure. Maybe, you’ll meet someone interested in adopting!

To take a dog on a date, feel free to come in any day of the week from 12 PM – 5 PM.

All dogs must be brought back to the shelter by 4:30PM, unless you are doing an overnight stay.
